Cosmetic Dentistry
If you’re dissatisfied with the current state of your smile, you’ve come to the right place! Patients often want to change or fix cosmetic issues that they deem unsightly. From subtle changes to major repairs, we perform a number of procedures that can improve your smile. Many of these procedures are used to address chipped, misshapen, discolored, or even missing teeth. Not only do these procedures improve the esthetic of your smile, they often improve other oral health issues, such as a misaligned bite.
Cosmetic Bonding
We offer resin composite fillings as an alternative to amalgam fillings. A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture that is used to restore decayed teeth. During the procedure, Dr. Rifkin applies the composite in layers, while using a curing light to harden the material intermittently. The filling is then polished to prevent staining and early wear. Amalgam fillings are much more conspicuous than composite fillings because they are made from silver and other metals. We also offer cosmetic bonding as a more cost-effective alternative to veneers. Dental bondings are similar to composite fillings, in that both procedures involve shaping, curing, and polishing the resin composite.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin tooth-shaped shells that fit over your anterior (front) teeth. Veneers can be used to fix stained, misaligned, worn down, chipped, and abnormally shaped teeth. They can also be used to fill the space between gapped teeth. Veneers are considered to be a conservative alternative to dental crowns. Instead of a complete reshaping of the enamel, we only need to lightly buff the tooth to compensate for the added thickness of the veneer. We also offer Lumineers® which require no reshaping of the enamel.
During the procedure, the surface of your tooth will be cleaned and lightly buffed. Then, we will take an impression of your teeth and use it to custom build your new veneers. Once the fabrication is complete, we will apply cement to the tooth and place the veneers. We use a curing light to quickly and effectively harden the cement.
Dental Implants
Dental implants have revolutionized the way we restore missing teeth. During the procedure, a titanium post is surgically implanted into your jaw. The post mimics the root component of a prosthetic tooth and can be used to support a single crown, fixed bridge, or even an entire row of prosthetic teeth. Implant-supported restorations are superior to other alternatives in nearly every regard, including appearance, durability, stability, comfort, convenience, and other oral health benefits.
Teeth Whitening
One of the most common complaints we receive from our patients involves the shade of their teeth. Many people want a brighter, whiter smile, which is why we offer in-office whitening. Yes, there are many products sold in stores that claim to have whitening abilities, but, none match the power of our professional grade bleaching process. During the procedure, Dr. Rifkinwill directly applies the bleaching solution to your teeth. Your teeth will be exposed to the bleach for the next 45 minutes or so. We also use laser whitening to activate the chemicals and expedite the process. In-office waiting can wipe away years of staining in under an hour!
Crown Lengthening
Some patients have a large amount of tissue that gives them the appearance of a “gummy smile.” To improve cosmetics, Dr. Rifkin will remove the excess tissue and lengthen your crowns. The procedure can also be used to place a dental crown on a tooth that has broken off at the gumline. During the procedure, we may use a dental laser to contour the gums. Lasers cut and cauterize tissue at the same time. This makes your treatment and recovery period virtually painless!
Full Mouth Reconstruction
If your smile is in need of a complete overhaul Dr. Rifkin may suggest a full mouth reconstruction. A full mouth reconstruction involves rebuilding and restoring all of your teeth in both jaws. This typically involves numerous procedures that span several months or even more. The types of procedures we recommend depend on your individual circumstance.
